The Epson TM-m30 and TM-m10 are compact Bluetooth thermal printers that work great with Dinevate. This guide walks you through the whole setup — from loading paper to printing your first order ticket. The steps are the same for both models (the TM-m30 uses 80mm paper, the TM-m10 uses 58mm paper).
Before you start: Printers connect to your tablet (running the Dinevate Order Manager app), not to the website. Keep the printer and tablet within a few feet of each other while you set up.
What You'll Need#
- Your Epson TM-m30 or TM-m10 printer and its power adapter
- A roll of thermal receipt paper (80mm for the TM-m30, 58mm for the TM-m10)
- Your Dinevate tablet, powered on and running the Dinevate Order Manager app
- Bluetooth turned on on the tablet
Step 1 — Load the Receipt Paper#
- Lift the gray cover-release latch on top of the printer to pop the cover open.
- Drop the paper roll in so the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll (this matters — if it feeds from the top, nothing will print).
- Leave a little paper sticking out, then close the cover firmly until it clicks.
- Tear off the extra paper against the cutter.
Tip: Epson printers use heat-sensitive thermal paper — there is no ink or toner. If a printed receipt is blank, the roll may be in upside down. Flip it so it feeds from the bottom.
Step 2 — Power On and Wait for "Ready"#
- Plug in the power adapter and press the power button.
- Watch the lights on the front. Wait until the status light is solid blue and the other lights have turned off.
A solid blue status light means the printer has finished starting up and is discoverable over Bluetooth.
Tip: If a light keeps blinking or an error light stays on, the cover may not be fully closed or the paper may be out. Re-seat the paper, close the cover, and power off and on again.
Step 3 — Pair the Printer in the Tablet's Bluetooth Settings#
First pair the printer at the tablet level, exactly like you would any Bluetooth device.
- On the tablet home screen, tap the three dots ( ⋮ ) in the top-right corner.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on (the toggle should be blue/green).
- In the list of available devices, find your printer. It appears as TM-m30_XXXXXX (or TM-m10_XXXXXX), where the X's are part of the printer's serial number.
- Tap it to pair. On Android, tap OK (or Pair) to confirm.
- If you are asked for a pairing code, enter 0000, or try 1234. (Most Epson printers pair without asking for a code at all.)
When it is done you should see the printer listed as Paired or Connected.
Note: This pairing happens once at the tablet level. After this, the tablet remembers the printer.
Step 4 — Add the Printer in the Dinevate Order Manager App#
Now register the printer inside the app so it can print order tickets.
- Tap the printer icon in the sidebar (left side of the screen) to open Printer Setup.
- Tap Add New Printer to open the setup wizard.
- Choose Find Nearby Printers (Bluetooth & Wi-Fi) — this is the easiest option. The app scans for Epson Bluetooth printers (and others) automatically.
- Wait for the scan to finish (up to 30 seconds). Your Epson appears in the list as it is found.
- Tap your printer to select it. (You can select more than one printer if you have several.)
- The app runs a test print on each printer you select. A small slip prints with the printer's name, address, and the date and time — that confirms everything is working.
If the Scan Doesn't Find Your Printer#
Use the manual option instead:
- Back on the Add New Printer screen, choose Manual Bluetooth Printer.
- Enter the printer's Bluetooth ID / MAC address, then connect.
You can find the MAC address two ways:
- It is printed on the label on the bottom or back of the printer (it looks like
AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF). - Or print a status sheet: turn the printer off, then hold the Feed button while turning it back on, and release once it starts printing. The sheet lists the Bluetooth address.
Important: For the manual option to work, the printer must already be paired in the tablet's Bluetooth settings (Step 3).
Step 5 — Choose What This Printer Prints#
After the test print, pick which tickets this printer should produce. A single printer can print more than one type at once:
- Customer receipt — the receipt the customer sees
- Kitchen ticket — the prep ticket for your kitchen staff
- Any custom station you have created (e.g., Pizza, Salad, Cold Bar)
Then set the Number of copies (1 to 10 — most restaurants use 1) and save the printer.
Example: With one Epson TM-m30 at the front counter, select both Customer receipt and Kitchen ticket so every order prints in one place.
Step 6 — Turn On Automatic Printing (Recommended)#
So tickets print on their own when an order comes in:
- Stay in Printer Settings and find the Order Settings card.
- Turn on Print tickets on accept — now every configured ticket prints automatically each time you accept an order.
- Turn on Auto-accept new orders too if you want fully hands-free printing during busy hours.
If you leave automatic printing off, you can still tap the Print button on any order to print it by hand.
Troubleshooting#
The printer doesn't show up#
- Confirm the status light is solid blue (Step 2). If it is blinking, reload the paper, close the cover, and power off and on.
- Make sure Bluetooth is on on the tablet ( ⋮ → Bluetooth) and the printer is within a few feet.
- If you already paired it in the tablet's Bluetooth settings but the in-app scan misses it, use Manual Bluetooth Printer with the MAC address.
It asks for a pairing code#
- Enter 0000 first, then try 1234. Most Epson units pair without any code.
The test print doesn't come out#
- Check that paper is loaded feeding from the bottom and the cover is fully closed.
- Look for a paper-out or error light and clear it.
- Re-open Printer Settings, tap the printer, and run the test print again.
Orders don't print automatically#
- In Printer Settings → Order Settings, make sure Print tickets on accept is turned on.
- Make sure the printer has at least one receipt type selected (Customer receipt or Kitchen ticket).
- Restart the Dinevate Order Manager app and try one more order.
Still Need Help?#
From the tablet, tap the Support icon (the headset) in the sidebar → Create New Case. Mention that you are setting up an Epson TM-m30 / TM-m10 printer and describe what you see (for example, "printer pairs but the test print fails"). Our team will help you get it printing.
